Saturday's Critters #63

Saturday's Critters #63

Happy weekend, everyone!  Can you believe it is the end of February already?  I think it is because I have been rushing winter along..I am ready for Spring..

It's Saturday and it's time to share your critters.. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit.

I am sharing some of my yardbirds..the Pine Siskins. They are fun birds to watch at the feeders. They can be super bossy and very stingy.  Sometimes I will see them sharing the feeders..

I guess you have to be a birder in Maryland to appreciate that the Pine Siskin numbers were growing each day.. It could be years before I see them again.. On this feeder above there are above 10.

And at the same time I had about 7-8 Pine Siskins on some feeders near by..

My large feeding station during the snowstorms.. You can see the Pine Siskins on the top and on the ground under the table..This week I was seeing around 12 Pine Siskins maybe a little more at my feeders.

I had a new sighting out my treadmill window.. I was able to watch a bunny for awhile when I was "walking"..

I hope you enjoyed my birds, bunny and post..Again I thank you for linking up to the critter party. I also appreciate the visits, comments and the support of my blogging friends................... Have a happy weekend!

Thanks to Tex Theresa aka Tex, I was able to add this link up button and thanks to  Jennifer for creating my photo badge.

  3. Dearest Eileen; How LOVELY your Pine Siskins are♬♬♬ Your explanation about them brought me smile. Bossy and very stingy but they are cute birdies(*^_^*)~♪ My favorite picture in this post is your large feeding station, how great to be able to them like that with snow scene.
The Bunny is lovely but the sweet poor one looks a bit cold :-)

I hope you will have a wonderful weekend.

  22. Love the shot of the Pine Siskins crowding that round feeder. Cute little birds I have never seen here. I do like the cottontail!

  23. Just came in from replenishing the feeders. Unfortunately, yesterday a squirrel managed to get the big suet log loose, it fell on the ground, and when I found it there were about 2" left of a 10" log. The dog was very sick last night.

Isn't it fun to see so many birds at your feeding stations! They need it in this weather. We've been well below zero for the last several mornings. Makes for very hungry birds.

  24. Eileen, I was not familiar with a pine siskin, and it is a very pretty bird. Love your bunny, too.

  25. Eileen, what a great collection of Pine Siskins. Thanks for sharing.

  26. Thumbs up for your critter party.Must be a unique experience to listen to their chirps around. And the way you feed them and look after their needs. The bunny looks so sweet and vulnerable.

  27. I think I have only seen them once at my bird feeders and that was a long, long time ago. Great pictures of them Eileen and I do love that bunny. Thanks for hosting and have a great weekend.

  30. I chuckle when I imagine you on your treadmill with your camera in hand ... don't miss a step it could be frightening. So many Pine Siskins ... I am lucky to spot one on my feeders. I used to get more, but not lately. They look so much like my sparrows that I could be missing them if I am not paying close attention. The Bunny is too cute ... he should be somebody's pet (my idea, not his, I am sure). Fun post, Eileen ... have a great weekend. Hope it is warming up by you ... we are still in the subzeros, Ugh!

  41. Eileen, I sure did enjoy your backyard friends on this Saturday! I use to see Pine Siskins, by the 100's when we first moved to Colorado in 1986. We get some, but not anywhere near those numbers. They are the cutest little guys! I really like the feeder in the first photo.

    Hurry Spring!!!! ;-)

  42. I'm so glad that you're getting the little pine siskins at your feeders! They look fairly compatible when they're all there together. I loved the shot of the starlings in your previous post too (although they are not my favourite bird). It looks like they've been drenched in oil the way their feathers shimmer. Beautiful! Enjoy your weekend :)

  46. Hi Eileen, What a mob of Siskins! I think it is wonderful that you are so kind and good to all the birds who come by. Outstanding! I am thinking of just putting up a feeder in the backyard on a pole or from a tree limb. By the way, I heard a Red-headed Woodpecker this afternoon but could not see it. Who knows? Have a fine weekend!

  52. Hi Diane,
Great post, that poor little rabbit looks a bit chilly!
I have finally got organised enough to post on your Saturday Critters - sorry I don't manage it on a regular basis, my blogging tends to get done in irregular blocks!

I notice you have a tag about removing word verification on your blog, how do you do that?

    Have a great week :)

  53. Hi, Eileen. I enjoyed seeing your pine siskins. They are lovely little birds! Hope you are enjoying your retirement, Eileen.

  54. Love the bunny shot! I've noticed the last week or so that we have a lot of Redpolls--They practically fall out of the tree when I put seed down.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Cute little bunny! My feeders are full of Redpolls instead of Pine Siskins, and so far I'm seeing about two dozen or so at a time.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hi There, I laughed seeing all of the Pine Siskins. I have them too this year (don't get them EVERY winter ---but maybe every other one)... Anyhow---I have about 40 or so altogether... They are not afraid of me at all since when I go outside to put up my feeders each morning, they are there waiting flying all around me... I've never had birds do that before... Yes--they are cute...

    Great set of pictures.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  59. Hello Eileen,

    Lovely post!
Keep well and enjoy your day!

  60. Quite a "swarm" of siskins! (More fun than a "murder" of crows!) In New Mexico they were also erratic visitors to the feeders, probably relating to food availability and population pressures in the far north. I was a bit late as I spent yesterday on a birding trip. Thanks for hosting us!

  61. What cute little birds! And I love the shot of that bunny. So sweet! I've been seeing so many birds around lately and I love it. Blue jays, cardinals, even some robins. Spring must be coming, right?! :)
